Okay, so maybe you’re feeling stuck in your current career. Deep down, you know the work you’re doing isn’t for you anymore. It doesn’t light you up, it doesn’t fit, and no matter how hard you try, it feels like you’re on the wrong path.

You’re not even questioning anymore—you know it’s time for a real change.

But here’s the problem: You’re terrified of making the wrong decision. What if you make a change, and it turns out worse than where you are now? It’s like that saying we use back home in Nigeria—“From frying pan to fire.” You don’t want to leap into something new only to regret it later.

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

In this blog, I’m sharing three simple ways to connect with yourself so you can make confident career decisions that feel aligned with who you are. The goal? To help you find a career that not only works for you but lights you up—without all the second-guessing or fear of regret.

I’ve Been Right Where You Are

I know how you feel because I’ve been there. I graduated with a biochemistry degree and started my career in oil and gas. I hopped from one role to another—business analyst, project coordinator, and more—hoping each new job would finally make me happy.

But after a few months, the same feeling would creep in: boredom, lack of challenge, and a nagging sense that something was missing.

To be honest, I spent years spinning my wheels. I was chasing external things like titles and paychecks, thinking that if I just found the perfect job, I’d finally feel fulfilled. But it never worked.

Then, by the grace of God, I discovered a path that felt right for me—one that aligns with my strengths, passions, and values. Now, as a certified change practitioner, I help professional women over 30, like you, make smooth, intentional career transitions into work that truly resonates with them.

I’m here to share what I’ve learned so you don’t have to go through years of trial and error like I did.

The Answer Isn’t Out There—It’s Within You

Let me save you some time: The answers you’re looking for aren’t out there. They’re not in another job title, another degree, or someone else’s definition of success. They’re within you.

This was a hard lesson for me to learn. I spent so much time chasing what was practical and logical—following paths that looked good on paper but didn’t feel right in my heart. I was too scared to own my passions, afraid that if I followed them, I’d end up broke or judged.

Sound familiar?

Here’s what I realized: You can’t build a fulfilling career by ignoring what makes you you. Until you take the time to connect with yourself and figure out what energizes and excites you, you’ll keep going in circles.

3 Ways to Connect with Yourself and Find Your True Path

So how do you figure out what you really want? Here are three simple steps to help you start:

1. Clarify Your Values and Needs

Ask yourself:

  • What kind of work environment energizes me? (Remote, hybrid, collaborative, independent?)
  • Am I an extrovert, introvert, or ambivert?
  • What do I value most—creativity, flexibility, stability, impact?

Getting clear on your non-negotiables will help you align your next career move with who you are, not who society says you should be.

2. Pay Attention to What Lights You Up

Think about the moments when time flies, and you feel truly alive. What are you doing? What do people naturally come to you for advice about? Those are clues pointing you toward work that feels fulfilling and joyful.

And remember, it doesn’t have to be practical or logical. Trust what excites you—it’s there for a reason.

3. Experiment Without Fear

Give yourself permission to explore. Try new things, take on small projects, or volunteer in areas that interest you. The goal isn’t to get it perfect the first time—it’s to learn and grow. Every experience, even the ones that don’t work out, will bring you closer to clarity.

It’s Okay to Not Have All the Answers Right Now

Let’s be real: Choosing your next career isn’t about finding the “perfect” answer. It’s about finding a path that feels right for you right now.

Your career isn’t a one-and-done decision. It’s a journey that evolves as you grow. The things you love today might change, and that’s okay. What matters is that you’re making decisions from a place of alignment and self-awareness—not fear or pressure to follow the crowd.

When you stop trying to get it “perfect” and start focusing on progress, things start to fall into place naturally.

Trust Your Inner Voice

Here’s a little exercise to try: When you think about a career path you’re considering, check in with how your body feels.

  • Does it feel expansive, exciting, and joyful?
  • Or does it feel heavy, tight, and constricted?

Your body knows. Trust that inner guidance—it’s there to help you build a career you won’t regret.

Let’s Figure This Out Together

If you’ve been reading this and thinking, “This is me! This is exactly how I feel!”—then let’s talk.

This is what I do. I help women over 30, like you, figure out their next steps when they’re feeling stuck and drained by work that doesn’t fit. Together, we’ll uncover your unique strengths, passions, and values so you can make a career change that lights you up.

You’re Closer Than You Think

I know it can feel overwhelming, but you’re not as far from clarity as you think. The best career decisions come from within—from aligning with your strengths, passions, and purpose.

You’ve got this. And if you ever need support, I’m here to help.

Until then, remember: There’s no right or wrong answer. The best decision is the one that feels true to you.
